Just weeks after a Volvo bus caught fire on the Bangalore - Hyderabad route due to tank burst, another news has just come in
WHEN: Early morning of 14th Nov 2013 (2:30am)
ROUTE : Bangalore to Mumbai (6:30pm service)
OPERATOR: National Volvo (multi-axle model)
WHERE: Haveri (330km short of Bangalore)
PASSENGERS ON BOARD: 49 + drivers and cleaner
The inferno was caused when one the tyres burst causing the driver to lose control and inturn the bus hit the median. We guess as the bus might still be doing a great amount of speed, the impact damaged the fuel tank which in turn caught fire. The incident happened near Haveri in Karnataka.
The tank fire inturn captured the whole bus and as many as seven people are said to have been burnt alive. Over 30 are seriously injured. Thankfully, the drivers had enough time to warn the sleeping passengers and hence most of them were able to escape out.
For details about the accident, people may contact the Haveri Town police – 08375232333 and 9480804545; Haveri Police control room – 08375237368; Haveri Superintendent of Police – 9480804501; Additional SP – 9480804502; Deputy SP, Haveri – 9480804520 and Deputy SP, Shiggaon – 9480804522.
