Bus travel in India

Travelling by bus has come off age in India. Gone are the days when due to high wait-list in trains, one had to board filthy non a/c slow uncomfortable buses to reach their destinations.
The change has mainly been due to Volvo entering the Indian luxury bus segment some years back. Well, they actually gave birth to the non-existent luxury bus segment with the B7R model, which has seen quite a few changes since its introduction in India.

The B7R is now the leader of the segment and people are willing to pay as much as Rs 1,000 for routes like Mumbai-Bangalore (1000+kms), which is done in around 17 hours. The B7R is fast, comfortable and safe and best of all, it beats the train on timings too! New long routes are coming up too, like the Vizag - Kolkata 800km route, operated by APSRTC (Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation)

This blog will try to help travellers seeking more information on luxury buses plying around India, specially the B7R volvo, routes, fares and a lot more.

Kesineni operates Volvo from Bangalore to Vijayawada and back. The fare is around 660 Rs. From Vijayawada the bus starts at 7pm and reaches Bangalore by 6.30AM.
APSRTC has similar service starting from 5PM, 6PM, 7PM and 8PM. The fare is comparable.
Kesineni bus is new and the service is good. You can book the tickets from any of their offices.

Hi Bunny,
We are trying to hire a full Volvo bus for a group outing from Bangalore-Mangalore but having a tough time finding Volvo operators.
Except KSRTC we are not able to find a travel operator in Bangalore who run Volvo service on this route.
If you have some details please share with me at ranarula [at] gmail [dot] com

TIA
